Mid-rise commercial project records (US Midwest)

Requests for information, submittals, change orders and daily logs from 41 completed mid-rise commercial buildings in the US Midwest.

These project records cover 41 mid-rise office, medical and mixed-use buildings, all completed by our Midwest division. Each project has a similar structure: drawing logs, requests for information, submittals, change orders, daily superintendent logs and closeout paperwork. The documents reference one another, which is the main appeal. A change order typically cites the RFI that prompted it, and that RFI cites a drawing sheet. We extracted these references into a link table, so you can trace a problem from the field to its cost impact. Roughly 70 percent of change orders link back to an originating item. Daily logs vary widely by superintendent; some are detailed and others barely a line. Projects before 2020 used a different numbering scheme, which we normalized as far as we could. Subcontractor and owner names are masked, and final contract values are provided only as bands.
